About Rowe’s Cornish Bakers

Hello, & Welcome to Rowe’s

When we opened our first bakery on Falmouth’s high street back in 1949 we had one ambition in mind. To offer exceptional quality at a great price. It was a philosophy that soon grew a loyal following and saw Rowe’s flourish into a household Cornish name. Today, with over 20 bakery shops and two purpose-built production facilities supplying major food businesses UK-wide, we still follow this simple approach. Much of our veg and dairy produce is Cornish born and bred, and our potatoes are still delivered by tractor to our door every morning. Our meats, wherever possible, are sourced from quality assured Red Tractor British farms.

We celebrate our traditional recipes, they’ve lasted for good reason and deserve respect. But our talented team of industry leading development chefs also take inspiration from Cornwall’s proud food heritage and ever-changing culinary fashions to innovate delicious new products in state-of the art facilities.

The result is a bakery that knows its roots as it anticipates food-service trends. We believe it’s a tasty mix.

PASSIONATE PEOPLE

PASSIONATE PEOPLE

We love what we do and we do it well. From store assistants to new product development chefs, our team put their hearts and souls into their work. Cornwall has been at the forefront of the UK’s artisan food renaissance and Rowe’s people are proud to play a part in it. We promote and protect traditional recipes, while creating inspirational new tastes to reflect current trends.

For more than 70 years, Rowe’s have been one of Cornwall’s best-loved bakers. Every day since 1949 we have been proud to put our heart and soul into our craft, following a very simple recipe. Start with fine ingredients, local wherever possible, add a hefty dollop of passion, and finish with extra care. Our customers love the results, and we continue to bake traditional pasties, pastries and sweet treats for everyone — the really, really Cornish way.

Over 300 years old

The pasty began over 300 years ago to meet the needs of Cornish tin miners who needed a simple, hearty meal. Meat and vegetables wrapped in a pastry casing made it a very practical lunch (known locally as a ‘Crowst’) as the filling was kept free of dust and soot.
